Las Campanas Realty

Web Design and WordPress Development

A custom WordPress build for Las Campanas Realty, a Santa Fe brokerage: listing, neighborhood and team post types, live MLS data, and a site plan map.

In collaboration with Monsoon Design, I led the web design and WordPress development for Las Campanas Realty, a Santa Fe brokerage that opened in 2012 selling the newest Las Campanas neighborhoods as they broke ground and now serves the whole Santa Fe market.

A brokerage website has a data problem before it has a design problem. Inventory changes daily and almost none of it originates in WordPress. It arrives from the Santa Fe Association of REALTORS through the Internet Data Exchange feed, carrying attribution and fair housing language that has to survive intact wherever a property appears. The site had to present outside data as though it were native, without ever asking a broker to retype a price.

Three custom post types carry the structure. Listings hold each property as a real record: price, beds, baths, square footage, acreage, MLS number and photo set. Neighborhoods hold the named estates. Team holds the brokers and their bios. The search bar takes a city, postal code, address or listing ID with price and room filters, then hands off to the full MLS.

The map was the most interesting engineering problem. Buyers want to know where an estate sits, and no street map will tell them: those boundaries live on a site plan, not on any public basemap. So the site plan itself is pinned onto a live, custom-styled map as a ground overlay, georeferenced to fixed coordinates so it stays registered to the terrain at every zoom. Each estate’s marker opens into its own neighborhood entry, so the map and the pages read from one source.

Monsoon Design did the identity work for the brokerage and is the agency of record, holding the client relationship. The web design and the WordPress build underneath it are mine, delivered white-label. The brokerage ended up with a site it can run itself: listings that stay current against the MLS feed without anyone retyping them, a team page maintained in house, and a map that stays accurate as the estates fill in.

Patrick is a web developer extraordinaire! We worked together on the UI of a web application to rate and review politicians. His deployments were prompt, and above standard. His UI work is clean, and solid. His work is well thought-out, which speaks to his expertise as a brand consultant.
