This page explains what information is collected when you visit patrickiverson.com (the “Site”), operated by Patrick Iverson, and what is done with it. It applies to this website only. Terms used here have the same meanings as in the Terms and Conditions.
The short version: this is a small business website. It runs one analytics tool, a spam filter on the contact form, and a font and security service. Nothing is sold, there is no advertising or remarketing, and analytics only runs if you accept cookies.
Information You Provide
If you fill in the contact form, you provide your name, email address and whatever you write in your message. That information is emailed to me so I can reply. It is not added to a mailing list and it is not shared with anyone else.
Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, this Site records standard technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser type and version, the pages you view, the time and date of your visit, and how you arrived. This is used to understand how the Site is used and to keep it secure.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
A cookie is a small text file placed on your browser by a website. When you first visit, you are asked whether to accept cookies. Analytics only runs if you accept. If you decline, the only cookie set is the one recording that choice.
- blocksy_cookies_consent_accepted — records whether you accepted or declined cookies, so you are not asked again. Set either way.
- _grecaptcha — stored in your browser by Google reCAPTCHA to protect the contact form from automated abuse. Set either way.
- _ga and _ga_GY92816JEY — set by Google Analytics to tell visitors apart and measure how the Site is used. They expire after two years, and are set only if you accept.
To change your choice later, clear the cookies for this Site in your browser and reload the page — the notice will appear again. You can also set your browser to refuse cookies outright. The Site works either way.
Analytics
If you accept cookies, this Site uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use it — which pages are viewed, how long people stay, browser and device type, and approximate location derived from IP address. Google Analytics does not tell me who you are, and the information is used in aggregate. If you decline, it does not load at all.
The Google Analytics property used here is not linked to a Google Ads account, so your visit is not used to build advertising or remarketing audiences.
You can read how Google collects and processes data in Google’s Privacy Policy, or opt out entirely using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
This Site also uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which measures page performance and visit counts without setting cookies and without tracking you across other websites.
Spam Prevention
The contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which analyses activity on the Site to tell genuine visitors from automated abuse. reCAPTCHA runs on all pages and is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Fonts, Hosting and Security
Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, and the Site is delivered and protected by Cloudflare. Both services receive your IP address and basic request information in order to do their job. Cloudflare also keeps security logs, which include IP addresses, to protect the Site from attack.
Who Your Information Is Shared With
Your information is never sold or rented. The only third parties that receive any data are the service providers named above — Google (Analytics, reCAPTCHA and Fonts) and Cloudflare (hosting, delivery and security) — and only to the extent needed to run the Site.
Links To Other Sites
This Site links to websites I do not operate, including client work. I have no control over their content or privacy practices, and I would encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.
Children’s Privacy
This Site is not directed at anyone under 18, and information is not knowingly collected from children. If you believe a child has provided information through this Site, please get in touch and it will be deleted.
Your Choices
You can decline cookies when you first visit, refuse them in your browser, opt out of Google Analytics using the add-on linked above, or get in touch to ask what information I hold about you and to have it deleted.
Changes To This Policy
This policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised “last updated” date, and take effect when posted.
